Play. On the mat we practice life…. And that in Play.

On the mat we practice life…. And that includes play. Fall down, laugh, roll over, repeat. Often times, this is the best part of yoga!
Mats. We’ve got em. Rent them, buy them, wash Mats.

We’ve got em.

Rent them, buy them, wash them, love them.

But whatever you do… don’t cut holes in them.

Typically students bring their own mats to the studio, but sometimes you forget, you’re traveling, or you simply want to try a new mat. Let the GLY Staff know and you can rent a mat for $2 per session. This is a great way to try a mat before purchasing one.

Let’s check the numbers. Yes, we’re talking bu Let’s check the numbers. Yes, we’re talking budget friends (time & money). It is probably the easiest category to leave off the monthly budget, but it can be one of the most beneficial things to include in your daily life - health & wellness.

Whether you count pennies or spend frivolously, most of us forget the value of investing in our mind, body, and spirit. In a 2016 study on yoga, over 90% of practitioners believe yoga enhances performance in other activities, and that yoga is generally good for you. In the same study, 22% of practitioners took to their mat once a week, while 37% showed up 2-5 times per week.

Truly the only way to know how the time invested on your mat will benefit you is to show up and be a witness. At GLY we aim to offer a variety of classes 7 days a week to meet the needs of your busy schedule. Work up a sweat at 5:45am or relax and restore in the evening before bed. View our schedule at https://glyoga.com/book-a-class/

And for the price… uh, we mean financial investment in your health and wellbeing, we truly have worked to make it accessible to as many in our community as possible. The average cost of a studio yoga class (in 2016) in the US was between $10-25 and unlimited memberships today can range between $100-250 per month. In 2021 we reformatted our pricing to ensure GLY could thrive through the pandemic. Our drop in cost is $15 and our unlimited monthly membership is $99 (with no commitment). Get the details of our pricing at https://glyoga.com/pricing/. In 2022, we opened up the yoga scholarship fund to give financial flexibility to those that need it. 5% of our membership profits fund a flex price membership (ERIE). And the cherry on top? We still offer FREE zoom mediation classes Monday - Friday.

This practice is available to you whether you want to spend $0 or $100. Give yourself the chance to see how a regular yoga or meditation practice can improve your physical and mental health. You are worth it.

Community.
Many benefits of yoga can be replicated in any environment or location. However, community is something many of us cherish when practicing at GLY. Several of you have shared that a studio practice takes you a little deeper than anywhere else. Perhaps it’s the person next to you cheering you on or the person behind you breathing deep enough for you both or the person in the front that giggles when they try something new and stumble along the way. To be human is to be part of something greater than yourself. We are a whole.
At the start of 2022, GLY started taking 5% of all At the start of 2022, GLY started taking 5% of all membership profits and opened up a Scholarship Fund. The concept is to make monthly, unlimited yoga more financially accessible to anyone in our community. We hope to remove financial barriers in order to make yoga more accessible, equitable, and representative.

Later in the year, we started taking donations and gearing specific sales (merch & events) towards supporting this fund. Our community came through and assisted 10 students in 2022. Any remaining funds will now go to support 2 partial scholarships for our winter session of Yoga Teacher Training.

Our YTT begins January 12, but it’s not too late to join. For anyone that may need tuition assistance, our application form is now available. https://forms.gle/YvDF3ZJsSBXDCYu17

I love my body no matter the number on the scale, I love my body no matter the number on the scale, no matter how much I’ve eaten or exercised, no matter the fit of my pants.

This work is not easy. Love takes practice. But you are worth it. Keep showing up and sitting with yourself. Do the work.

I love you.
